Daily Rhythm

Good Morning!

Children arrive, say goodbye to parents, and either begin their day in the learning lab environment or play garden/playscape to greet their friends and their community of teachers.

 

Morning Meeting

We gather together for stories, songs, ring games, poetry, weather, music, and stories, and discuss our plans for the day.

Learning Labs/ Story Studio/Project Work

Children may choose block building, dress-up, quiet book time, games, painting, working with clay, poetry or project  work. We also offer activities for exploration of an ongoing theme, such as light and shadow (“Glow Time”), construction, and seasonal activities such as culinary arts, gardening, yoga, and weaving. Twice a week is our time for Story Studio, where children dream up, work out, illustrate, perform, discuss, and revise their stories with their community of teachers.

 

Enrichment Classes

Yoga, Drama, Spanish, Music Appreciation, Art Appreciation, Gardening, Culinary Arts, Poetry, Zumba, Creative Dance. (Community teachers take small groups of children to enrichment classes based on the student’s interest. Students may choose to participate or attend learning labs.)

 

Play Yard/Playscape/Outdoor Learning Lab

Children play in the play yard/playscape, garden, go on a nature walk, participate in science, math, art, music, literacy/poetry, Zumba, yoga, drama, and so much more. Please dress students in weather appropriate clothing so that they may experience each season comfortably.

 

Studio time

A small group of children work in the indoor studio or outdoor art studio with our community teachers.

 

Sharing

Children may share something they have made or a treasure found in nature.

This is also a time to reflect on our morning.

 

Lunch

Closing/Ending Meeting

We sing songs and tell stories to close the day.

 

Goodbye

Children greet their parents and say goodbye to their friends and community teachers. (Part Day Program) Set up our cots, bathroom break, Rest Time. Students that may not need a nap with be provided with a quiet activity on their cot. (Full Day Program)

We sing songs and tell stories to close the day. Students say their good byes to their friends & community teachers. **There is room for some flexibility in our schedule based on the current needs of the children and the energy of the day, though the basic structure remains the same. **
